China: Tsingtao Brewery has captured 20% of Beijing beer market
Tsingtao Brewery Co., the leading Chinese brewery, based in Qingdao city, has taken 20% of the beer market in Beijing, Chinas capital, local media commented. Tsingtao entered the capital market at the beginning of the year. US beer giant Anheuser-Busch owns a 27% stake of Tsingtao.
With its Dayou brand, which held only 4% of the market last year, Tsingtao is reported to have taken a fifth of the market.
The dominant brewer in Beijing is Yanjing Brewery, based in the capital and has itself been looking to expand outside the city as Chinas beer market continues to consolidate.
